Architectons at the Royal Academy

In 1932 the artist Malevich showcased his architectons in a room surrounded by his paintings for the exhibition Fifteen Years of Artists of the Russian Soviet Republic . Although the lives of the paintings since then are well documented, the architectons have mostly disapeared. On studying photographs of the exhibition and the contents of packing crates that surfaced in the 1970’s, Henry Milner has recreated the central display of 15 architectons. The Royal Academy of Arts in London presented these in front of the original paintings on the centenary of the Russian Revolution.
